Warnath Group is providing tailored training and technical assistance to multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) in Costa Rica to enhance their ability to preliminarily identify and refer child and adolescent trafficking victims for formal identification and assistance. MDTs are comprised of social workers, health workers, teachers, administrative police, NGOs, mental health specialists, emergency room personnel, hospital personnel, clinic personnel and/or others as appropriate who serve as the frontline in local protection work. MDTs have been established in the framework of existing Local Sub-Systems of Protection (SSLPs) in Guanacaste and Puntarenas provinces. On October 25, Warnath Group conducted a training with 22 MDT practitioners from the SSLP in Jicaral, Puntarenas.
The IACT Program is funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of State Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP).
